Posting Information:
This position will remain open until filled. The first screening of applications will take place at 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Applications received after that date may be reviewed and considered as they are received. An essential function of this position is the ability to work in person and physically report for work on site.
Essential Responsibilities Specific to this Job:
- Establishes and maintains productive and positive relationships with key union representatives
- Participates in the organization’s collective bargaining process and works to ensure that labor agreements are implemented and administered appropriately
- Represents the organization in grievances and arbitration and seeks to resolve disputes between workers and management
- Plans and implements long-term labor contract negotiation strategies
- Reports on organizational activities to relevant government agencies, such as the National Labor Relations Board or the Wage-Hour Division of the Bureau of Labor
- Contributes to other functional areas (such as compensation and benefits, recruitment, training, and development) as they pertain to the organization's unionized workforce
- Analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions
- Coaches/advises employees and management through sensitive HR issues to resolve conflict and seek workable solutions
- Investigates work-related or compliance issues and prepares summary reports, conclusions, and recommendations
- Drafts proposals, rules, or regulations
- Ensures that union agreements are consistent with policies and regulations
- Interprets formal communications between management and labor
- Conducts fact finding analyses related to labor grievances
- Plans, designs, implements, and conducts training to management on labor relations
- Advise management on contracts, worker grievances, and disciplinary procedures
- Participates or lead meetings between management and labor
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, management, and various agencies at all levels of the organization and deliver challenging information effectively
- Uses diplomacy, reasoning, and de-escalation skills to manage difficult or emotional situations
- Presents facts and recommendations verbally and in writing
- Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion in working with sensitive information
Requirements
Certifications:
Certified Labor Relations Professional (CLRP) certification or the ability to obtain the certification within one (1) year from the date of hire, desired.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Behaviors:
- Knowledge of Title I and Title II of the ADA, Title VI, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and related state and federal regulations.
- Knowledge of labor relations principles and practices.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of collective bargaining principles and practices.
- Broad working knowledge of the processes and functions of human resources, with an emphasis on employee and labor relations
- Demonstrated successful experience resolving conflict amongst staff and managers.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound professional decisions consistent with policies and procedures in an environment with a formalized discipline/grievance process.
- Knowledge of how to apply theoretical principles into real life situations with limited oversight from management.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
