Job Summary
The Environmental Services (EVS) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily environmental and housekeeping operations within a healthcare facility to ensure a clean, safe, and compliant environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role manages cleaning operations, infection prevention standards, regulatory compliance, staffing, scheduling, payroll, inventory control, and departmental procedures. The EVS Supervisor also supports emergency response cleaning needs and ensures operational readiness across assigned departments and shifts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily Environmental Services operations across assigned hospital areas and shifts.
Ensure patient rooms, public spaces, and support departments meet cleanliness and infection control standards.
Monitor compliance with OSHA, CDC, hospital safety regulations, and infection prevention guidelines.
Train, coach, schedule, and evaluate EVS staff to maintain high performance standards.
Manage staffing schedules, payroll processing, attendance, and workforce planning.
Conduct inspections, quality audits, and survey readiness assessments while addressing deficiencies promptly.
Maintain and enforce departmental policies and operational procedures.
Oversee inventory management for cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
Coordinate with nursing, facilities, infection prevention, and leadership teams to support hospital operations.
Respond to emergency cleaning situations including isolation rooms, spills, discharge cleaning, and urgent sanitation needs.
Utilize EVS software systems and reporting tools to track operational performance and compliance.
Document incidents, inspections, employee performance, and compliance activities.
Support operational continuity during weekends, holidays, emergency situations, and off-shift schedules as required.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements / Skills
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
2–5 years of Environmental Services, housekeeping, or healthcare support experience.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge of infection control procedures, hospital sanitation standards, and healthcare regulations.
Experience with scheduling, payroll management, staffing coordination, and reporting systems.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Proficiency with EVS equipment, cleaning systems, and operational technology.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and quality assurance skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment with flexible scheduling requirements.
Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and work around cleaning chemicals and biohazard materials.
