Description
About the Campaign
Ashley Harder is running for City Council to bring common-sense leadership and a
"community-first" approach to District 4. Our campaign is focused on thoughtful growth, public
safety, and fighting for the unique character of our community. We are looking for a data-driven,
high-energy Senior Field Organizer to lead our grassroots mobilization and technical field
operations through the election.
Role Overview
The Senior Field Organizer will be the backbone of our field operations. This role requires a
blend of technical proficiency in campaign data and "people skills" to recruit and manage a
robust volunteer base. You will be responsible for ensuring that every door in District 4 is
reached with the right message, powered by accurate data and efficient scheduling.
Key Deliverables & Responsibilities
Data & Systems Management: Maintain a high-functioning knowledge of VAN
(Votebuilder). You will be responsible for all data entry, list pulling, and universe
targeting.
Turf & Event Coordination: Schedule and compile all weekly and monthly events,
including community meet-and-greets and canvasses. This includes targeting and
cutting turf for both volunteer teams and the candidate. Possible launching of
canvasses and attendance at events may be required.
Volunteer Mobilization: Actively contact, recruit, schedule, and manage volunteers for
neighborhood events, phone banks, and weekly canvasses specifically within District 4.
Operational Reporting: Participate in weekly meetings with the Deputy of Operations
and the full campaign team. You will be responsible for reporting out results, managing
field budgets, and identifying resource needs.
Paid Canvass Management: Work closely with the Deputy of Operations to oversee
paid canvassing teams, ensuring high performance and accountability.
Content & Strategy: Develop and refine targeted scripts for phone banks and
door-knocking that resonate with the diverse constituencies across District 4.
Requirements
Technical Requirement: Advanced proficiency in VAN / Votebuilder is a strict
requirement. Candidates without prior experience in cutting turf and managing campaign
data will not be considered.
Experience: Previous experience in field organizing, political campaigns, or community
advocacy is highly preferred.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. You must be
comfortable making cold calls, launching canvasses, and leading volunteer trainings.
Bilingual Skills: Proficiency in Spanish is a significant bonus but not required.
Commitment: A deep commitment to the future of Phoenix and the specific needs of
District 4 (Midtown, Encanto, and surrounding neighborhoods) and continuing as a paid
contractor through November, 2026.
Flexibility: Ability to work 20–25 hours per week, including evenings and weekends as
required by the campaign schedule.
