About Friends of the Delaware Canal
Friends of the Delaware Canal (FODC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, restoring, and promoting the Delaware Canal State Park in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The canal, a National Historic Landmark, stretches 60 miles and offers irreplaceable natural, cultural, and recreational value to the region. FODC supports the canal through advocacy, education, stewardship, and community engagement.
Position Summary
The Membership Coordinator is responsible for growing and sustaining the Friends’ membership base through the management of membership solicitation, renewals and retention. This role will focus on both individual and business memberships. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic communicator who is passionate about conservation, heritage, and community. This is a newly created position with an exciting opportunity to help grow the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Program
Manage all aspects of the membership program, including recruitment, renewal, and retention
Maintain and update the membership database; track and report on membership trends
Develop and execute membership drives and engagement campaigns
Respond to membership inquiries and provide excellent stewardship to current members
Coordinate with volunteers and Board members to support outreach efforts
Communications and Outreach
Collaborate on newsletters, email campaigns, and social media content related to membership
Represent FODC at community events, tabling opportunities, and public programs as needed
Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, civic groups, and potential members
Reporting and Administration
Provide regular reports on membership numbers and statistics
Maintain organized records of member communications, renewals and benefits
Collaborate on accurate membership processing and acknowledgment letters
Requirements
Qualifications
Required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in membership management, nonprofit fundraising, or a related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency with donor management software (e.g., Neon One, Salesforce, or similar)
Comfort working independently with minimal supervision
Commitment to the mission of preserving the Delaware Canal and its surrounding environment
Preferred
Experience with social media campaigns
Familiarity with Bucks County, PA philanthropic community and local foundations
Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact)
Background or strong interest in environmental conservation, history, or parks and recreation
