Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. The Pit Technologies Division (PT) supports critical weapons production missions by providing manufacturing operations within TA-55. We are seeking a Lead Supervisor (Manufacturing Manager 1) to support manufacturing operations in PF-4. This is an opportunity to provide hands-on leadership in a high-hazard nuclear facility while contributing directly to national security objectives. This position is based on site in Los Alamos, NM, with a salary range of $117,200 – $195,400.
You Will:
- Provide floor leadership for a team of approximately 10 operations personnel performing nuclear material operations
- Plan, oversee, and track shop floor work activities while reporting status and progress
- Perform work alongside staff while mentoring and developing operations personnel
- Support daily manufacturing operations in coordination with Manufacturing Manager 3 and Group Leader
- Conduct routine and job-specific pre-job briefings for work activities
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and operational requirements, including stopping work when necessary
- Assist in self-assessments, incident investigations, and implementation of corrective actions
- Collaborate with internal organizations and stakeholders to ensure successful mission execution
- Serve as Acting First Line Manager during temporary absences
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervising, mentoring, and developing personnel
- Experience planning and executing work in a manufacturing or operational environment
- Ability to track, manage, and report work progress effectively
- Demonstrated accountability in maintaining formal operations within a nuclear or similarly complex facility
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels
- Ability to meet DOE Order 426.2 requiring a high school diploma and 3 years of nuclear experience, with applicable substitutions
Desired Qualifications:
- Active DOE Q clearance and HRP certification
- Experience working in nuclear high-hazard facilities
- Familiarity with Conduct of Operations, safety authorization basis, and facility compliance requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Local Area Nuclear Material Accountability Software (LANMAS), and Outlook scheduling tools
- Experience implementing procedural controls and operational oversight
