Conner Landscape Architects is a boutique, design-centered landscape architecture studio located in Tampa, Florida. As we approach our 30th anniversary, the firm is entering an exciting period of growth built upon a long history of creating thoughtful, sustainable, and inspiring outdoor environments.

Our work includes university campuses, corporate environments, healthcare facilities, parks and public spaces, hospitality, and other complex projects throughout Florida. The Position
We are seeking a Project Designer / Assistant Project Manager to join our Tampa studio. This position is intended for a landscape architect or designer who has developed strong design and technical skills and is ready to take on increasing responsibility for project coordination and management.

Working closely with the Design Principal and Project Manager, you will contribute to the development of projects from conceptual design through construction documentation and construction administration. You will help transform design ideas into thoughtful, technically sound, and well-crafted built environments.

We envision this position as a pathway toward becoming a Project Manager within the firm following a period of acclimation to our design philosophy, clients, standards, and production processes.

What You’ll Do
Responsibilities will include:

• Participate in site planning, conceptual design, design development, and construction documentation.
• Develop thoughtful design solutions responding to site ecology, environmental systems, regulatory requirements, constructability, budget, and client objectives.
• Prepare plans, details, sections, studies, presentation graphics, and other project documentation.
• Assist with the development and coordination of high-quality construction documents.
• Research materials, planting, site furnishings, construction systems, codes, and technical requirements.
• Coordinate landscape architectural work with architects, civil engineers, structural engineers, MEP consultants, contractors, and other members of the project team.
• Assist Project Managers with schedules, deliverables, consultant coordination, meetings, and client communication.
• Participate in project meetings, design presentations, site visits, and construction administration.
• Review project documentation for design intent, technical accuracy, and quality.
• Take increasing ownership of projects and client relationships as experience within the firm develops.
• Contribute to the collaborative design culture and continued growth of the studio.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate combines strong design sensibility with the technical ability and organizational skills necessary to help move projects successfully from ideas to built work.

We are particularly interested in someone who:

• Has a degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.
• Has professional experience in a landscape architecture or multidisciplinary design practice.
• Demonstrates strong design, graphic, and technical abilities.
• Understands the preparation and coordination of construction documents.
• Is comfortable working collaboratively while also taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.
• Communicates clearly with clients, consultants, contractors, and team members.
• Is organized and capable of balancing multiple projects and deadlines.
• Is interested in sustainable design, native landscapes, stormwater integration, and environmentally responsive design.
• Has experience with AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with Land F/X, Rhino, and 3D visualization is beneficial.
• Is interested in professional growth and developing the skills necessary to manage projects and client relationships.
• Landscape architectural licensure is valued but is not required for the position. Candidates pursuing licensure are encouraged to apply.
