MIT Sloan School of Management

Company Overview

MIT has conducted critical research on the processes and policies of work and employment since the 1937 founding of the MIT Industrial Relations Section. Two groups focused on this area of study have recently come together, merging of the Institute for Work and Employment Research (IWER) and the Organization Studies Group to form the Work and Organization Studies Group (WOS).

This highly collaborative and interdisciplinary group investigates employment relations, how people create organizational structures, processes, and practices, and how the design of organizations influences individual, group, and societal behavior. Their work integrates theories from business, sociology, psychology, political science, history, anthropology, and other disciplines.
