Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. Position Summary This is an At-Will position and we currently have funding for one year. This position is located within the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. The Research Associate will support Dr. Delesha Carpenter in the Division of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy. This position will primarily involve collecting and analyzing qualitative interview data. Interviews will be conducted with pharmacists and methadone prescribers. The research associate will be responsible for submitting and maintaining IRB and regulatory submissions as needed; analyzing qualitative data using MAXQDA, and writing manuscripts and conference abstracts related to the project. The research associate will also assist with analyzing data from interviews conducted with other important stakeholders on the project. The individual will participate in advisory board meetings and regular study team meetings.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Master's in public health with previous experience conducting interviews and analyzing qualitative data. Individuals with a Bachelor's and significant prior experience collecting and analyzing qualitative data will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Preference will be given to candidates with:
- prior work in the substance use disorder (SUD) space
- previous experience with IRB submissions
- excellent written communication skills
