The Senior Research Associate/Research Associate will support our LNP formulation pipelines and in vitro/in vivo preclinical requirements through the design and execution of experiments to help screen and produce various non-viral formulations enabling the encapsulation of various RNA entities. This candidate will also help support various characterization assays for the various formulations as needed. The ideal candidate for this position will be a motivated and proactive individual with a passion for nanomedicinal/LNP formulations and processes. The applicant should have strong wet laboratory, communication and collaboration skills preferably with a background in the appropriate formulation deliverables. This role will have no supervisory responsibilities and will report to the Principal Scientist, Non-Viral Gene Therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and execution of experiments to screen, produce, characterize, and optimize LNP formulations for both in vitro and in vivo delivery of gene editing entities.
  •  Support the generation of preclinical LNP test materials or other formulation/drug substance characterization lots
  • Perform routine analytical testing to characterize formulations as needed
  • Adhere to highest standards of data integrity through thorough and detailed electronic lab notebooks and documentation records
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety requirements and procedures
  • Assist in maintaining general laboratory functionality associated with the gene therapy and delivery group, including lab equipment maintenance and the ordering and receiving of lab supplies.
  •  Develop and maintain protocols, operational processes, and best practices.
  • Communicate results at team meetings, contribute to project and experiment planning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/MS or equivalent in Chemical/Biomedical/Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience with lipid nanoparticles systems for RNA delivery in an industry or industry-like setting.
  • Knowledge of process development/scale-up or screening of LNP Formulations or nucleic acid/lipid chemistry is preferred
  • Innovative and science-driven; a self-starter possessing high scientific rigor.
  • Collaborative and an excellent communicator
