Consistent with the institution’s mission and values, the work involves assisting in coordination of the administration of financial aid to students on a campus of a Community College. The incumbent is responsible for adherence to Federal and State regulations regarding financial aid. The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Coordinator of Financial Aid. Supervision is exercised over para-professional and clerical staff. Does related work as required
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Assists with the administration of the department;
Completes reports and analysis of student financial need;
Provides individualized advisement to students and parents on the financial aid process, eligibility criteria, application procedures, and the responsibilities associated with receiving aid, including loan repayment, satisfactory academic progress, and renewal requirements;
Researches regulations and functions as a resource to the staff in the completion of their assignments;
Responsible for acting as a functionary of the college at financial aid information sessions and as a liaison for the college community;
Assists students to complete the financial aid forms in accordance with Federal and New York State regulations;
Calculates preliminary financial aid award estimates for new and returning students;
Advises enrolled students on the effect of withdrawing from classes and/or not achieving a satisfactory grade point average on their financial aid awards;
Oversees and administers the Federal Work Study Program to ensure compliance with Federal guidelines; along with onboarding students to the program and monitoring their participation
Attends Federal and State Financial Aid Seminars, workshops, conferences for updates on policy and procedure changes for the current and upcoming academic years;

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Candidates must be able to demonstrate awareness and sensitivity towards promoting an inclusive and diverse learning environment. Thorough knowledge of financial aid methods and procedures at the college level; good knowledge of educational procedures and practices at the college level; ability to develop and supervise student services activities, including financial aid functions; ability to coordinate and direct the work of others; ability to prepare statistical material effectively; good organization ability; sound professional judgment; courtesy; tact; demonstrates a commitment to fostering and advancing a diverse and inclusive work force; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree and five (5) years' experience of responsible educational administration, including two (2) years of experience in financial aid administration.
