Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and organized Research Associate with a strong background in biochemistry and tissue culture to join the Topo scientific team. This lab-based position will be primarily responsible for protein expression using a range of vectors and hosts, producing high quality protein reagents for biochemical and structural studies, and executing biochemical and biophysical assays for ligand discovery and MoA studies. The individual must be a very careful experimentalist. As time allows, the candidate may also provide support for other activities and experiments in the laboratory.
Requirements
Required Skills and Experience
BA/BS in Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline preferably with 2+ years in drug discovery in an industry position.
2+ years' experience in mammalian cell culture required.
Experience with protein expression using a range of vectors and hosts required.
Experience with membrane protein biochemistry including protein purification using FPLC/HPLC instruments required.
Experience performing and analyzing biochemical, biophysical, or cell-based assays required.
Strong interpersonal skills required.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and computer literacy required.
Desired Skills
Experience with molecular biology techniques desired.
Experience with small-molecule binding assays. E.g. DSF, SPR, ITC, fluorescence polarization, radioligand binding.
Insect cell culture experience.
