Recreation Commission Director
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Recreation Commission Director, the Recreation Coordinator assists with the daily operations of the Recreation Commission. This position will oversee the 55+ leisure programming (non-fitness) and facility rentals, and collaborates with department directors on programs, special events, and sports offerings. This position also supervises part-time staff and volunteers. They will develop partnerships with Maize-USD 266, the City of Maize, and other community organizations to provide high quality programs and events that enhance the community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the United States.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Background check is required.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in recreation administration or related field related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of 55+ leisure programming (non-fitness).
Manage rental inquiries, facility tours, equipment needs, payments, and rental staff scheduling.
Ensure program rooms are clean, organized, and properly set up for daily use.
Assist with updating internal signage and display cases.
Work independently and exercise sound judgment when interacting with patrons and staff.
Perform essential physical functions including walking, running, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Utilize strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe platforms, and online research tools.
Communicate operational needs, issues, and participant/instructor feedback to the Recreation Commission Director.
Follow budgetary guidelines and assist with financial responsibilities related to programs and community events.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.
Certifications:
CPR and First Aid certified, or the willingness to obtain certification upon employment.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Hours:
This position typically works 10:00am – 7:00pm, with adjustments based on program needs. Some weekend hours are required. Schedules will be adjusted to ensure reasonable work-life balance.
Pay Scale:
$40,000 - $50,000 DOE
