Position Information

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
Determines scope, budget and schedule based on customer needs. Communicate budget and schedule to project team members. Coordinates and conducts pre-construction meetings, post-award partnering meetings, routine quality control meetings, and close-out/punch list inspections. Routinely communicates with construction contractors and provides updates on budget, schedule, and progress to the Director of Maintenance Project Management. Ensures cost estimates (to level of detail needed) are completed and clearly communicated to all stakeholders. Coordinates all testing (soil, TAB, HAZMAT, asbestos, etc.) and ensures abatement or remediation (if necessary) are complete. Ensures appropriate project close-out documentation and record retention have been completed. Analyzes potential construction and contractual issues using experience, judgement and precedence, providing input and recommendations to ensure appropriate resolution. Issues range from routine to complex. Ensures efficient work flow, productivity, etc., related to each project. Always focused on minimizing disruption to students, faculty and staff in order to minimize any negative impact on UGA'S mission during each project. Explains complex information to others, ensuring audience understanding. Provides project management on various multi-disciplinary projects ensuring compliance with contract documents and industry standards.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Comprehensive knowledge and experience of the construction and/or renovation project life cycle.
Knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations including (but not limited to) mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
*Ability to lead collaborative efforts involving all stakeholders to identify the project goals/objectives and establish agreement on customer expectations.
A self-starter that is accountable for assigned projects, including scope, budget development, scheduling design, procurement, construction, closeout, and warranty service.
Physical Demands
Sit at a computer for up to 8 hours a day.
Traverse active construction job sites.

Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for the logistical planning, coordination, and oversight of multiple construction projects at the same time. Visit project sites frequently, inspect work-in-place to ensure general conformance with plans and specifications, and monitor site activities regularly to ensure safe practices are being followed at all times.
Percentage of time 50 Duties/Responsibilities
Draft, interpret, administer contracts and construction documents demonstrating working knowledge of construction estimating, budgeting and general accounting principles.

Serve as the point of contact for information related to assigned projects.
