Project Manager (Operations / Activation)

Location: Tokyo, Japan

About the Role

We are seeking a Project Manager - Operations / Activation to lead the operational rollout and resident activation of a newly developed community app. The development phase of the app is complete; this role will focus on ensuring that the app is effectively adopted, embedded into daily use, and actively used by residents as the community launches.

This is a hands-on activation role, ideal for someone who can design and execute practical strategies to drive adoption, interaction, and community engagement through the app.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement operational strategies that align with business objectives and department goals for the official app.
• Coordinate internal resources and external vendors to ensure seamless project execution-on time and within scope.
• Plan and manage operations for recruitment activities related to demonstrations, including awareness-building efforts (e.g., posters, flyers, digital campaigns) via the app.
• Design and execute app activation measures such as word-of-mouth campaigns to attract and retain users.
• Define, track, and analyze key performance metrics; propose strategies to improve user satisfaction.
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a product / project manager.
• Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English.
• Strong communication skills for working with cross-functional teams.
• Confident user of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with Slack, Jira, and Confluence is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in marketing activations or campaign planning within FMCG, retail, or digital applications.
• Background in creative agencies or companies with strong operational activation practices.
• Basic knowledge of UX/UI principles to understand user experience.
• Business operations experience, with ability to design recruitment plans and campaigns.
• Technical understanding sufficient to collaborate with product and engineering teams (not a development role).
