AB WASHINGTON BEEFTITLE: Maintenance Supervisor - Technical Rendering
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Technical Rendering Maintenance Supervisor provides strategic leadership and technical oversight to the Rendering Maintenance department, reporting directly to the Director of Maintenance. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of rendering assets through the implementation of a robust maintenance program. Success in this role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with operations, food safety, and EHS teams to drive plant initiatives and continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage rendering maintenance personnel, overseeing all aspects of breakdown response, preventive and predictive maintenance, and project execution.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance schedule using CMMS tools to ensure equipment uptime and reliability.
- Coordinate and prioritize work orders based on operational needs and asset criticality.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance in mechanical systems including pneumatics, hydraulics, machining, and piping.
- Supervise equipment overhauls and ensure adherence to technical specifications and safety standards.
- Apply root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles to resolve recurring issues.
- Serve as the primary maintenance liaison to rendering operations, ensuring timely response to equipment failures and minimizing production downtime.
- Investigate and resolve production delays linked to equipment performance.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with internal policies and external regulatory standards (DOSH, EPA, GMP, SQF).
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship through training, audits, and corrective actions.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff on technical skills, safety protocols, and equipment-specific procedures.
- Manage staffing levels and performance evaluations, applying disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Foster a team-oriented environment focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and control departmental expenditures in alignment with budgetary goals.
- Oversee contractor work and ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance with scope.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong background in rendering operations and maintenance of processing equipment.
- Proficiency in mechanical systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and machining.
- Experience with CMMS platforms and maintenance planning tools.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proven ability to drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Excellent leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication across all organizational levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows-based applications.
- Ability to analyze technical data and make informed decisions under pressure.
- Willingness and flexible to work in shift as scheduled (night shift/weekends)
- Strong safety and performance record
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or rendering environment.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
SALARY RANGE: $77,968 - $85,000 per year
BENEFITS: Competitive benefit package offered for employees (and qualified dependents) working 30+ hours per week includes medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, 401k, PTO accrual up to 15 days per year, six (6) paid holidays annually, and three (3) floating holidays.
