Job Summary
The Linux Support Administrator is responsible for managing and supporting server infrastructure, ensuring system performance, and maintaining operational stability. This role involves provisioning and decommissioning servers, performing audits and backups, deploying complex infrastructure systems, and resolving escalated technical issues.
The position requires expertise in system administration, scripting, cloud technologies, and troubleshooting distributed systems. The administrator will also evaluate new technologies, execute proof of concepts, provide Tier 3 support, and document technical standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze technical requirements based on stakeholder interactions
Provision and decommission servers, manage IP allocations, install applications, and provide end-to-end server support
Perform inventory audits and manage periodic backups
Deploy and maintain infrastructure composed of complex systems and services
Identify and resolve escalated incidents and system issues
Monitor performance to ensure compliance with SLAs and timelines
Execute proof of concepts and provide advanced troubleshooting for single and distributed systems
Document technical standards, procedures, and best practices
Requirements
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.E/B.Tech) with 5–7 years of relevant server-side experience
Technical Skills:
Experience with scripting and automation, including Ansible playbooks
Strong expertise in Linux (RedHat 6, 7, 8) and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 or newer
Proficiency in Bash, AWK, SED, Regular Expressions, XML/Markup, and PowerShell
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP protocol suite (TCP, UDP, IP, ICMP, Telnet, NFS, CIFS, SMB, HTTP, LDAP, NTP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, FTP, SNMP)
Experience with x86 hardware platforms (HP, Dell, Cisco), storage systems, and related infrastructure
Knowledge of open-source technologies including Apache, Tomcat, Samba, ISC BIND, DHCP, Git, OpenSSL, GNU utilities, Zabbix, and Nagios
Understanding of file systems (Ext3, Ext4) and RAID concepts
Knowledge of cloud and virtualization technologies including AWS (EC2, EBS, S3, ELB, CloudFormation), Nutanix, VMware (vSphere, ESXi, VMFS, vCenter)
Familiarity with Puppet
Understanding of data protection and security concepts
Other Skills:
Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities
Ability to manage complex infrastructure environments
Strong documentation and communication skills
