HR PAYROLL & BENEFITS COORDINATORThe City of Princeton is seeking a detail-oriented and organized professional to join our Administration Department as an HR Payroll & Benefits Coordinator. This is a full-time, non-union, non-exempt position reporting directly to the City Manager.
The successful candidate will serve as the primary liaison between the City and our outsourced payroll provider. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of employee data, managing benefit enrollments, and maintaining rigorous financial controls over payroll disbursements and tax compliance.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Payroll Administration: Manage provider communications, verify electronic timesheets, audit payroll reports, and provide final approval for batches.
• Benefits Coordination: Assist employees with insurance enrollments, oversee deductions, review premium billing, and serve as the point of contact for Workers' Compensation and random drug screening.
• Financial Coordination: Process vendor payments, maintain tax documentation (W-9s, 1099s), and provide support for Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Compliance & Records: Maintain confidential payroll and medical files and coordinate documentation for internal or external financial audits.
Key Qualifications:
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic timekeeping, accounting software, and Excel (data entry and basic formulas).
• Core Competencies: High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with total discretion.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, operate a keyboard, and maintain a valid driver's license.
