Position: DEPUTY ADMINISTRATOR, MORIKAMI MUSEUM
Salary: $83,984 Annually, negotiable depending on qualifications
Department: Parks and Recreation/Special Facilities Administration
Location: 4000 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach
Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday – Friday, including various nights, weekends and holidays.
Palm Beach County’s Parks and Recreation Department seeks qualified candidates for Deputy Administrator of Morikami Museum. This highly responsible leadership opportunity supports and assists the Museum Director in all operations and financial management of the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. The Deputy Museum Administrator plays a critical role in planning, coordinating, and directing the work of multiple key areas – including curatorial, marketing, business, financial management, and information technology. Serving as a subject matter expert in Japanese history, language, and culture, and ensuring adherence to museum principles and practices, this role works under the general direction of the Museum Director in advancing the mission of the institution.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
Manages all fiscal activities, point of sale systems, membership and financial systems required for maintaining accurate revenue and expense records
Analyzes and interprets financial data and projects including reviewing financial proposals for reasonableness and feasibility
Assists the Museum Director with; budgeting and forecasting; the
development and implementation of short, mid and long-range
goals and objectives
Coordinates with other County departments to ensure proper facility maintenance
Develops and implements plans and strategies for grant
development
Oversees Chief Curator for all museum and gardens operations to develop educational programming to complement the museum and gardens and to advance the mission and vision of the Morikami
Directs all educational programming, exhibits, and collections conservation
Oversees marketing staff to ensure continued interest and visitation
at the museum and advancement of the museum’s mission and
vision
Interprets and explains aspects of Japanese history, language, art and culture in order to perform assigned responsibilities
Provides oversight of American Alliance of Museums (AAM) accreditation and Museum Assessment Program (MAP)
Represents the Institution at meetings and conferences to
advance its mission
Works with staff to develop marketing and promotional programs
to ensure continued interest and visitation at the museum and
advancement of the museum’s mission and vision
