Job Summary
Supervises day-to-day operations of a small University academic unit and supervises team. Monitors budgets and performs associated financial duties. Assists in managing human resources actions and implementing procedures to streamline business operations. Monitors daily work progress and ensures compliance with policies and regulations. Oversees administrative duties and resolves routine issues.
Essential Functions
The Department Administrator for the School's Department of Periodontics and Preventive Dentistry oversees all administrative affairs and special events for the department, including the graduate program in periodontics, and supervises departmental staff and student workers. The incumbent provides administrative support to the Chair, and the graduate program director. The incumbent must be highly organized and provide structure and oversight for all departmental tasks and ongoing projects, ensuring that all deadlines are met, and communicate and enforce departmental policies and procedures, including those related to clinical and research activities. Responsibilities include:
- registering residents and fellows for classes
- overseeing department ordering
- reconciling faculty expenses
- maintaining website
- maintaining time off records for residents, faculty, and staff
- assisting faculty and staff with upkeep of credentialing, sets up externships, supports program director in assembling accreditation documentation
- serve as contact for Residency and Research Program interested candidates
Physical Effort
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and transport small parcels, packages and other items.
