The purpose of your role as a Building Automation Project Sales Representative
As a Building Automation Project Sales Representative (BAPSR), you'll help drive revenue through new and existing client relationships by developing and selling building automation solutions in the assigned market. This role also involves managing and maintaining strong relationships with current customers.
HVAC and Building Automation Knowledge
- Solid understanding of HVAC and building automation systems and their functions
- Awareness of energy use, sustainability goals, and system inefficiencies
- Systems-thinking mindset to align building performance with customer expectations
- Ability to interpret job drawings, equipment, and field conditions
- Skill in identifying system needs and offering value-driven solutions
- Capable of proposing upgrades, replacements, and modifications
- Able to translate technical knowledge into clear, impactful proposals
Developing Solutions
- Review specs and drawings to understand project scope
- Accurately estimate costs, materials, and timelines
- Understand the prospect's needs—both technical and financial—and craft custom solutions
- Use Harris SOPs and tools to generate pricing at approved margins
Proposals
- Develop professional, timely proposals using Harris SOPs
- Aim to have all proposals prepared at least 24 hours before delivery
- Present solutions in a way that clearly differentiates Harris from the competition
Prospecting & Pipeline
- Maintain accurate sales activity and pipeline in CRM (Salesforce)
- Keep an active backlog to meet or exceed booking goals
- Promptly follow up on leads and referrals
- Identify and qualify new opportunities
- Cross-sell controls, service, and mechanical work to leverage Harris' full capabilities
Customer Relationships
- Uphold Harris' values in all business interactions
- Maintain consistent, professional communication with clients and prospects
- Address customer concerns quickly and effectively
- Build strong rapport with customers, vendors, and internal teams
- Represent Harris professionally and effectively in the field
- Plan and manage your schedule to ensure high productivity
What we're looking for in you
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, business, or related field (preferred)
- 4+ years of HVAC, mechanical, or electrical experience
- Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop financial justifications and understand energy savings
- Prior sales experience is a plus

Pay Range: $65,878 - $98,817 per year.
The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on a wide range of factors such as specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
