- Assistant Waterfront Supervisor
Description
Camp Sewataro is seeking an experienced, safety-focused leader to serve as our Assistant Waterfront Supervisor. This role is ideal for a certified lifeguard and swim instructor who enjoys mentoring staff, supporting campers, and helping run a high-quality swim program in a fast-paced summer camp environment.
The Assistant Waterfront Supervisor serves as the primary on-deck leader, ensuring daily waterfront operations are safe, organized, and aligned with American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim standards.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations
Oversee daily waterfront coverage, lifeguard rotations, and safety procedures
Manage camper swim assessments, placements, and progress tracking
Support engaging, skill-based swim instruction across all groups
Instructional Leadership
Coach instructors in lesson pacing, skill progression, and camper engagement
Conduct in-water observations and provide real-time feedback
Assist with camper progress reports and final swim evaluations
Staff Supervision and Development
Supervise and mentor Head Lifeguards and LGT Swim Counselors
Provide structured feedback and mid-season evaluations
Lead professional development sessions on instruction and safety
Physical Expectations
Must be able to guard, stand, walk, and swim throughout an active camp day outdoors in the sun.

Requirements
Required Certifications (Camp Sewataro will provide and cover the cost of required certifications for qualified candidates who do not currently hold them)
Current WSI (Water Safety Instructor)
Current Lifeguarding certification
Current CPR certification
Preferred Experience
At least 2 years on a camp staff team or similar waterfront/activity leadership experience
Strong understanding of Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Levels 1–4
Experience implementing lesson plans, supporting staff, and managing camper behavior
Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
