 - Animal Transfer Coordinator

Description
Overview
The Animal Transfer Coordinator will oversee the OAS transfer program, to include cultivating positive working relationships with partner shelters, selecting appropriate animals for transfer, in collaboration with other staff members, and maintaining communication internally and externally about animals being transferred. The transfer role includes all species, with a strong focus on big dogs, requiring experience working with dogs with behavioral challenges or who aren’t doing well in a stressful shelter environment.
Through support from Friends of Oakland Animal Services (FOAS), OAS has created an Outcome Team, which includes the Transfer Coordinator, as well the Foster, Adoption, Dog Playgroup, Dog Behavior, Community Cat and Small Animal Program Coordinators, to focus on placing animals and reducing length of stay. These lifesaving programs have resulted in a greater than 93% live release rate. The Outcome Team works in close collaboration with OAS leadership and the OAS veterinary team.
