Description
The Grenadier Success Team is dedicated to supporting IU Southeast students by offering holistic, academic support and resources including accessibility services, coaching, mentoring, and tutoring. Our mission is to empower and inspire students and community members to take ownership of their education, develop skills to become lifelong learners, and achieve their goals.Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Serves as a student-facing employee, regularly meeting with students, faculty and staff to assist with questions, make referrals, and serve as a resource.
- Develops, monitors, adjusts, and evaluates accommodation plans for students with disabilities from the beginning (determining eligibility and accommodations at intake) and throughout the student's career; includes working with students to determine appropriate, reasonable accommodations.
- Coaches and advises students to help with student success and self-advocacy.
- Stays current with and ensures compliance of law, legislation, research, and trends in disability support services, assistive technology, service-delivery, higher education, and best practices. Items include the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to students with disabilities.
- Develops and implements policies, strategies, and procedures aligned with IU, national, and state best practices and standards. Recommends service enhancements.
- Maintains records and prepares monthly reports on usage, outcomes, and effectiveness of services.
- Coordinates office communication, including marketing and student outreach efforts to raise Accessible Educational Services awareness, increase usage, and promote student success.
- Collaborates with staff, faculty, and departments to identify student needs and promote Accessible Educational Services.
- Assists with grievance compliance and policy review, as needed.
- Develops and implements programs and initiatives that offer support for students in crisis and those facing adversity or challenges.
- Interfaces directly with students by attending student programming events, meeting 1-on-1 to discuss support needs, and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student services initiatives and objectives. Places an emphasis on confidentiality of student concerns, university policy compliance, and a culture of care within all direct student interactions.
- Promotes inclusive and equitable access to academic resources for all students.
- Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as academic and campus leaders, on shared student support goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student programs and initiatives.
- Serves on committees and performs student support research across the field of higher education and at peer institutions to identify and recommend best practices.

EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in education, public affairs, public health, counseling, social work, business, or related field
- Master's degree in higher education student affairs or related field
Required
- 2 years in student services, higher education, social work, counseling, law, or related field
- 3 years of experience in academic support including providing accommodations for students with disabilities

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
